The Formation of Ellagic Acid from Galloyl-Glycine by Penicillium.

چکیده

Kraemer [1900], who investigated the galls formed by Cynips aciculata on Quercus cocinea, found that during the chrysalis stage gallic acid was produced and that as the imago developed the gallic acid gave place to tannic acid. These observations gain in interest if viewed in the light of the recent investigations of v. Stockert and Zellner [1914], who have proved the presence of nitrogenous products in a number of galls caused both by insects and fungi1, and also of the results of Nierenstein [1914] who has isolated galloylleucine CH3\ /COOH CH-CH2-CH

Characterisation of galloylated cyanogenic glucosides and hydrolysable tannins from leaves of Phyllagathis rotundifolia by LC-ESI-MS/MS.

INTRODUCTION Phyllagathis rotundifolia (Jack) Bl. (Melastomataceae) is a creeping herb found in Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Traditionally, a decoction of the leaves is used in the treatment of malaria, fever and stomach ache. OBJECTIVE To provide ESI-MS(n) data which are applicable for chemical fingerprinting of P. rotundifolia to obviate laborious isolation and purification steps. MET...

Inhibitory activity for chitin synthase II from Saccharomyces cerevisiae by tannins and related compounds.

In the course of search for potent inhibitors of chitin synthase II from natural resources, seven tannins and related compounds were isolated from the aerial part of Euphorbia pekinensis and identified as gallic acid (1), methyl gallate (2), 3-O-galloyl-(-)-shikimic acid (3), corilagin (4), geraniin (5), quercetin-3-O-(2"-O-galloyl)-beta-D-glucoside (6), and kaempferol-3-O-(2"-O-galloyl)-beta-D...

Identification of hydrolysable tannins in the reaction zone of Eucalyptus nitens wood by high performance liquid chromatography--electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry.

The first detailed analysis of the phenolic constituents of the reaction zones (tissue of antimicrobial defence) from the sapwood of a Eucalyptus spp. is presented. Plantation-grown Eucalyptus nitens trees with stem decay resulting from pruning wounds were sampled and extracts were prepared from healthy sapwood and from reaction zone tissue. Analysis by HPLC with ESI-MS revealed that a diverse ...

In vitro gastrointestinal digestion promotes the protective effect of blackberry extract against acrylamide-induced oxidative stress

Acrylamide (AA)-induced toxicity has been associated with accumulation of excessive reactive oxygen species. The present study was therefore undertaken to investigate the protective effect of blackberry digests produced after (BBD) in vitro gastrointestinal (GI) digestion against AA-induced oxidative damage. The results indicated that the BBD (0.5 mg/mL) pretreatment significantly suppressed AA...
